Third Age 5923: When news of Arithon's escape reaches Rathain's clans, Laithen is summoned to Halwythwood from Deshir to participate in a closed clan council. She argues that Rathain's clansmen are not safe in Tysan because of the high levels of gifted talent bred over two hundred years of peace. Upon hearing that Esfand, Khadrien, and Siantra have left camp with Alithiel, Cosach and Laithen reveal that Dakar's vision had led them to intentionally delay a council decision until the children had been moved to act on their own.
Third Age 5923: Upon hearing that Esfand and Siantra have returned, Laithen orders a tent set up on the fringes of Halwythwood. With Cosach, the pair of children and Tarens are granted an audience. Tarens delivers news of Khadrien's death in Havish, angered that the children were allowed to leave Rathain on their own. She reveals that Khadrien is alive, sent back chastened by Asandir after losing Alithiel.
Arithon has a farsighted vision of the extermination of the clans in Halwythwood. The vision shows Laithen and Siantra murdered, and Tarens exhorting Esfand to rally survivors. Arithon learns that that invasion has not yet occurred, since the vision was sent as a warning through time by Siantra.
